Why Board Books?
Board books are often a child's first books. They're the ones little hands grab, pages get turned again and again, and favorite stories become part of the everyday routine. Add photos of the people they love, and a board book becomes something even more personal.
That's why we make ours with little readers in mind. Thick, rigid pages are easy for small hands to hold and turn, while the glossy finish is easy to wipe clean. And unlike traditional board books, ours are finished with a durable spiral binding that makes every page easy to turn and lays the book open for little readers.

A family history, printed one page at a time.
Our story started more than a century ago, when Joseph Benjamin Lawton began learning the printing trade as a boy. In 1900, he founded Lawton Press in Orlando, Florida, beginning a family business that would span five generations.
The technology has changed a lot since then. Letterpress gave way to offset, and offset gave way to digital printing. But one thing hasn't changed: we believe the things worth making are worth making well.
Today, that same family printing tradition makes it possible to create something much more personal: a single book, made just for one child, printed with the same care we'd give a much larger project.

The year it all began
Joseph Benjamin Lawton turned his early experience in the printing trade into a family business, opening Lawton Press in Orlando, Florida.
The next generations take the reins
J.C. Lawton passed the business to J.B. Lawton III, continuing a family tradition of learning the craft and passing it down.
A fourth generation steps in
The fourth generation grew the business through the offset printing era while keeping it firmly family-owned.
The fifth generation carries it forward
Kimberly Lawton Koon and her husband brought the business into the digital age, investing in new technology and the capabilities needed to make personalized printing possible.
